A shot of vodka and a telugu feature film

***************************Disclaimer*************************************************

The following incident is completely fictitious and is derived from some of my wildest imaginations. Any resemblance to any person(s) living or dead is purely coincidental (U bet ... :)).

It’s amazing to see what a simple thing like a single shot of vodka can do to an otherwise sane person… He begins to be appreciative, argumentative and of course romantic. Well, I decided to try its influence on a Telugu feature film.

Before:
After a dull and tiring week at work (to be frank it wasn’t due to the enormous workload but was rather due to the dearth of it) I decided to find some respite in the form of movie. Movies have traditionally been one of the best sources of entertainment in our society but in my case it was the absence of any other forms of entertainment that made me choose this option. I did have company, of course maleL; a small group of simple, level headed engineers who live for this form of entertainment.

It was drizzling outside and the ride on our respective motorbikes was pleasant despite the annoying interference caused due to the vehicular traffic. After a whole 20 minutes of biking my friend guided me towards a small dilapidated structure which at best looked like a bordello. We parked our vehicles and climbed up the stairs to reach “Twister – The pub”, we were welcomed by a screeching sound oops song (Babuji zara deere chalo, the DJ surely was doing a great job). Having realized that sustained exposure to such melodious music could impair our ear drums we decided to move to the adjoining restaurant and consume our share of vodka peacefully…

After:
It was time. The Movie I chose was the latest blockbuster, so I was expecting considerable amount of action, romance and of course dance – content diverse enough for a comprehensive experiment.

The Movie opened in Black & White (I guess it was to indicate a flash back) with a little boy serving tea to an old man. And before I could gather myself completely (the vodka was taking its course) …BAM… the boy picks up a revolver (was made to look old too) and shoots the old man. A faint music started picking up from the Digital Speakers and it started raining (Not inside the theater but in the movie). It felt like a Déjà vu, I guess the rain had something to do with it. Actually, I was evaluating my options as a serial killer. It may sound completely insane but it ain’t, given the conditions we endure during the course of our daily work it is natural to get such instincts. At that moment my thoughts were wandering, I was contemplating on which particular method would be appropriate to make each of my esteemed team members’ (sparing a few including those who are reading this, I obviously don’t have such intentions for you guys) soul rest in peace.
By the time the song was over the protagonist who by now was an established young professional killer was planning another assignment. This time it was on a different scale. Let me not delve into the details of the plot since it’s no different from any other movie. But the innovate methods (they seemed to be so…) used were truly fascinating. I started excogitating ….

The day began with a rather routine ride to the office in the public transport - Slightly bumpy but with a flavor of its own.
Upon reaching my workstation and relieving myself of my luggage I decided to proceed towards the restroom directly to get a quick fresh-up and also to waste some time, it was too early to work!
Unaware of the fact that the next few moments were to change my life completely I started to slowly stroll through the long corridor that leads to the Rest-Room. I could notice that though it was the same old hyper-soporific work place there was something peculiar, I was the only one on the floor. I quickly checked my watch to find out whether I am too early to office... Or god forbid was it a holiday that day!

I opened the door, the room as usual was poorly lit (Probably people like it dark in there). I quickly moved towards the washbasin to fetch some water and clear my eyes. Of course, I was still able to feel the effect of the Vodka I had last night. When I was just about done with my routine I heard a noise. It was Shakeel- a colleague, who for a change had arrived early to office and wanted to make people aware of his presence.
He, without a doubt, was the most popular persons actually a phenomenon in the team. His fame (and of course couple of other things) had proliferated not only in the project but also among others who share our floor (Now I know, why there weren’t many people present this morning). Probably the only person who was able to foster the spirit of unanimity among the team which seldom shared a common thought on any issue. My affection for him, due to our past interactions and combined assignments, was much more intense than any other person, enough to slit his throat and squeeze out the last ounce of blood from his body!

I managed to complete my routine without engaging in any kind of conversation with him for I knew that any thing that I say then can ruin my peace for the entire day. But as I just left, the nerd out of his habit made a remark. I chose not to indulge and walked out calmly. As I passed through the corridor and towards my workstation something occurred and I decided to go back to the Restroom. I guess it was due to the hangover; I started verbally assaulting him and just when he tried to retaliate physically I picked him by his collar and using all my power banged him into the mirror…

I was in a shock for a moment. In front of me was the carcass of my bete-noire in a pool of blood, I had mixed feelings. I quickly walked back to my workstation since staying there could be dangerous. I sat down on my chair and started desperately thinking about my future course of action when I heard someone calling my name. It was Vk saying “wakeup…lets leave now, else we’ll be stuck in the traffic for an hour”.

CHOCOLAT

This particular story narrates my experience (rather a disastrous one) with a very pretty and sweet gal. I must admit that given my above average looks and decent language capabilities I enjoyed a certain regard from my friends especially the ones from the opposite gender. And all the encounters with these beautiful (and in certain cases not so beautiful) women have given me if not anything at least the ability to discern the attitude of a lady.

"Life’s like a box of chocolates**, you never know what you gonna get" – I wish we could understand this statement completely for it defines the gist of our existence on this planet.
Wondering why I am getting so philosophical, well that’s a reflection of my present state – Ruminative and Remorseful!
Why? Because of one of the recent chocolates*** (a Milk Chocolate rather; I learnt that the Goras refer to us like that) I picked up. Wrapped in a beautiful pair of deep blue jeans and a light blue shirt (As if the wrapper mattered, it was the chocolate that was making it beautiful) the chocolate was heavenly – in every aspect of the word.
Hope you’ve understood what I am referring to ;) For the uninitiated it’s one of the most beautiful albeit elusive things on this planetJ. I happened to meet this beau femme in my French class. French! Well I wanted to dabble through it and thanks to the chocolat (well that’s what u call her in French) I decided to learn it thoroughly. The first day of the class I dressed up pretty smartly and arrived a bit early, right when I parked my bike and got off it I was struck by a ‘thunderbolt’. There was this divine creature walking right past me. Cupid must’ve been doing his job fine for I was taken by her charms. Following her I ended up in my French class (only I did not realize the same till the class started). While the cute French teacher was blabbering away some rather complicated French terms I was hard observing this lady who seemed unaware of my presence. Time for the intro’s and I gave mine and listened to her intro with a thousand ears. Jotting away her details carefully. Only to realize that some other idiot was trying to pick up a conversation with her. I planned to have him eliminated the next day only to be cooled down by my close friend accompanying me (yeah I had company whom I almost ignored).
The class got over much to my disappointment and while I was ambling away outside the gate I saw her waiting for her car. She came up to me and said, ‘excuse me, I heard your intro and I was wondering whether you happen to be a part of Helix*?’ I burped out something which was totally irrelevant to the context (Something I realize upon retrospection could have sounded like "What the hell did you just say???"… "Please stay away from me") and then tried to make it up by guiding the conversation towards my academic pursuits. The lady seemed confused and was a picture of naivety coupled with innocence. This particular combi can drive any sane valmiki crazy and I was just a mortal. I was literally drooling and just short of confessing my feelings when my frnd arrived and continued the conversation and gave me a chance to gather myself and approach her gain this time a bit more sophisticated. I don’t remebr what I spoke exactly but I did speak some sense for the lady seemed to stare at me long enough (probably!). Through the conversation I got to know her name and she asked mine. Just as I thought that she would slip into my arms her car arrived and she slipped away from me totally. But just before leaving she turned back and looked into my eyes, gave a little smile and told me "looking forward to meet you in the next class". My spirits knew no bounds…
Life gives us brilliant opportunities, and I believe that it is completely onto the individual to make the best of them; I failed to do so comprehensively. But then everyone is not so lucky.
Hope to transform the status quo and completely relish my chocolate(s) the next time!!!

* HELIX, I got to know is some kinda Club.
** Obviously I am referring to an assorted box of sweets wrapped in identical wrappers.
